Flights to Sydney, Australia; Just Booked!

We just booked our flights to Sydney with STA Travel.

Flights including taxes for the two of us came to £1216.80 which in my eyes, is a bargain. Return flights were about £950 again with STA, and that was with an 11 month return date, but sod it – one way is the key.

Flying with Emirates

Having looked around, Emirates seemed to be really good value and have good reviews in almost all of the places that we looked.

I am hoping, that as it is technically our Honeymoon, that we might be able to get an upgrade if the flight is quiet. We’ll see – might be a blag too far that one! I even joined their Skywards rewards program to see what kind of bonus points we might get.

We fly from Manchester on the 29th November to Dubai, then Dubai to Sydney. It is about a 24.5 hr trip in all, and we land on the 1st to get to DarloDigs for the first day of December.

Ian who we are staying with at the moment said that we could see the plane that we are flying on if we look at the schedule, so I did on Manchester Airport Schedule/Timetable Site and it says that we are flying on Emirates  77W which is a Boeing 777-300. According to the Flight confirmation its 3514 miles, which I think is the longest flight that I will have ever been on. I think the longest prior to this was to one of the Canary Islands? Fuerteventura maybe…

Flight from Dubai to Sydney seems to be on Emirates 388 and this is a massive haul… 7487 MILES??? blooming heck, thats like 1/4 of a years driving for me! Can’t find much about it apart from on SeatGuru, but this looks like a general guide. According to the Emirates site, it is supposed to be on one of the new Airbus A380’s, which will be cool. What would be even cooler would be if we could get one of the inflight rooms? Mile High anyone? The engines will probably have been made in some part by the guy who we are living with at the moment.
